Common stove and oven problems we fix
A range that won't cook usually fails in a predictable way. These are the symptoms we're called about most, and what's typically behind them.
Gas oven slow to heat or won't bake
The most frequent cause is a weak igniter. The igniter has to glow hot enough, and draw enough current, to open the oven's gas valve. As it ages it may still glow orange but never quite reach that point, so the oven takes forever to preheat or never lights at all. A failing safety valve can cause the same symptom.
Burner keeps clicking or won't light
On a gas cooktop, constant clicking usually means a spill has soaked the burner, the cap is sitting crooked, or a spark switch is stuck. If one burner won't spark at all, we check the electrode for cracks, the wiring and the spark module.
Electric oven not heating
Bake and broil elements burn out, sometimes with a visible blister or break. When the elements test fine, the fault is often a relay on the control board, a thermal fuse or a loose wire at the terminal.
Oven temperature is off
Food burning on the outside and raw in the middle points to a bad temperature sensor, a worn igniter, a door gasket that leaks heat, or a control that needs calibration.
Cooktop element or glass-top zone dead
On electric coil and smooth-top ranges, a zone that stays cold, or stays on high, usually means a failed element, an infinite switch or a burned terminal block.
Error codes or an unresponsive control panel
Touchpads wear out, boards fail and wiring harnesses loosen with heat. We trace the code back to the actual fault instead of swapping parts until something works.
Door locked after self-clean
If the oven won't unlock once it cools, the door lock motor or its switch has usually failed. Don't force the latch.

Gas safety and what you can check first
If you smell gas, stop. Don't light a burner, flip a switch or unplug anything. Get everyone outside and call your gas company from there. Only once the gas company says it's safe should you call us about the range.
For no-heat and no-spark problems without a gas smell, a few checks are safe to try:
- Power. Gas ranges still need electricity for the igniters and controls. Check the breaker and make sure the cord is plugged in.
- Burner caps. With the burner off and cool, make sure each cap sits flat and the ports are dry and free of food.
- Control lock and modes. Many ovens have a control lock, Sabbath mode or a delay-start that looks like a failure. Check the manual.
- The clock. After a power outage, some ovens won't bake until the time is set again.
Leave gas fittings, valves and the inside of the cabinet alone, and never bypass a safety valve or door switch. Turn off the breaker before cleaning around electric elements.
Gas or electric: what's different about the repair
On a gas range, most heating problems come down to the ignition system and the gas valves that depend on it. We test the oven igniter's current draw rather than judging it by how it glows, inspect the bake and broil burners, and check that surface burners spark and light cleanly. If a valve isn't opening, we find out whether the valve itself failed or whether it's simply not getting the signal it needs.
On an electric range, the usual suspects are elements, infinite switches, the temperature sensor and the relays on the control board. We meter each part instead of guessing, which matters on newer ranges where one board runs everything.
Dual-fuel ranges, with a gas cooktop over an electric oven, get both sets of checks.

What happens on the visit
The technician confirms the symptom, then tests the igniters, elements, sensors, valves and controls involved. You hear what failed in plain terms and get a quote before any work starts. Nothing is replaced without your approval.
Once you approve, we make the repair and test it: the oven is brought up to temperature and each surface burner or element is run. If a part has to be ordered, we tell you the timeline before you approve. The $75 diagnostic fee is waived when you approve the repair.

Cost, the $75 diagnostic and our warranty
$75 Diagnostic — Waived With Repair. The final cost depends on the part, the access and the model. An igniter on a freestanding gas range is a straightforward job. A control board on a double wall oven built into cabinetry, or a valve on a professional-style range, takes more time and the parts cost more.
Every repair is covered by a 90-day warranty on parts and labor. You get an itemized invoice by email and can pay it online by card.

Frequently asked questions
How much does stove or oven repair cost in Las Vegas?
The diagnostic is $75 and is waived when you approve the repair. Beyond that, cost depends on the part, how hard it is to reach and the model, and you get a quote before work starts.
How soon can you come out?
Most visits are booked within 1–2 business days. Call or request a visit online.
Why does my gas oven take so long to preheat?
A weak igniter is the most common reason. It may still glow, but not hot enough to fully open the gas valve, so the burner lights late or not at all. Replacing the igniter usually solves it.
What should I do if I smell gas near my stove?
Don't light anything or touch switches. Leave the house and call your gas company from outside. Once they've made it safe, we can diagnose and repair the range.
Do you work on Wolf, Viking and Thermador ranges?
Yes. We repair professional-style and premium ranges from Wolf, Viking, Thermador, Bertazzoni and Dacor, as well as everyday brands like GE, Whirlpool, Frigidaire, Samsung and LG.
