A machine that can't take payment is a machine that's down

The washer or dryer itself may be fine, but if the coin drop is jammed or the card reader is dark, nobody can start it. Customers lose quarters, residents call the office, and the machine earns nothing until someone looks at it.

We repair the payment side of commercial laundry equipment: mechanical coin slides, electronic coin drops, coin vaults and card readers, along with the wiring and settings that connect them to the machine. Because we also repair the washers and dryers, we can tell whether the fault is in the payment hardware or in the machine behind it.

Coin mechanism problems we fix

Coin drop jammed

The most common cause is a foreign object: bent coins, slugs, foreign coins, washers from a hardware store, or a paper clip someone tried. A coin stuck in the chute can block every coin behind it.

Coin slide sticking or not returning

Mechanical slides collect dirt, detergent dust and lint, and the springs and pawls wear. A slide that feels gritty or won't push in fully usually needs cleaning, adjustment or worn parts replaced.

Coins taken but no credit given

On electronic drops, a dirty or failed coin sensor, a loose connector, or a wiring fault between the drop and the control can accept the coin without registering it. That's where most "it ate my money" complaints come from.

Good coins rejected

A coin rejector that is dirty or out of adjustment will send valid coins straight to the return. Worn rejectors sometimes need replacement rather than adjustment.

Coin vault full or box won't seat

An overfull vault can back coins up into the drop. A damaged vault box or lock can keep it from seating correctly, which may stop the machine from accepting payment.

Card reader problems we fix

Reader dark or offline

A reader with no display, or one that shows an offline message, often has a power or wiring problem, a loose harness, or a failed reader module. We test the supply and connections before replacing hardware.

Reader won't read cards

Dirty or worn read heads and damaged card slots are typical, especially on readers that see heavy use or occasional abuse.

Payment accepted but the machine won't start

This is a communication problem between the reader and the machine control. The cause can be a wiring fault, a failed interface, or settings that don't match the machine's model or firmware.

Wrong price or cycle settings

If the price on the reader doesn't match your signs, or you want to change vend prices or cycle options, we can program the reader and machine settings. If your system is managed through the payment provider's own platform, some changes have to be made there, and we'll tell you which ones.

Equipment we work on

We work on coin mechanisms, coin drops and card readers from Greenwald, ESD, Coin-O-Matic and others, installed on Speed Queen, Dexter, Maytag Commercial, Huebsch and other commercial washers and dryers. We aren't a dealer for any payment brand. We repair and service the hardware you already have, and we'll tell you honestly when a part is worn out and replacement makes more sense.

What you can check before calling

  • Empty the coin vault and see if the machine starts accepting coins again.
  • Look into the coin slot with a flashlight for an obvious jam. Don't force anything into the chute to clear it.
  • For a dark card reader, check that the machine itself has power and that its breaker hasn't tripped.
  • Note the exact message or error code on the reader or machine display.
  • Turn off power at the breaker or service switch before opening any service panel.

Fewer payment failures between visits

A few simple habits cut down on jams and offline readers:

  • Post clear signs at each machine showing accepted coins and cards, and a number to call when a machine fails.
  • Empty coin vaults on a regular schedule instead of waiting until they're full.
  • Wipe detergent residue and lint away from coin slots and card readers during routine cleaning.
  • Keep a simple log of which machines get payment complaints. A repeat offender usually has a worn part, not bad luck.

Laundromats, apartment laundry rooms and maintenance

Payment problems hit laundromats and multifamily laundry rooms differently. In a store, it's lost turns and refund requests. In an apartment building, it's residents who can't do laundry and a stack of work orders for the office. We handle both. See laundromat equipment repair and apartment laundry room repair for how we cover the whole room.

Coin and card readers are included on every preventive maintenance plan visit, where we clean coin paths, check vaults and test each reader.

5.0 ★ on Google

8 Google reviews, all five stars. Here's what customers say.

“Several washers and dryers at my laundromat were having issues I couldn't figure out, so I sent in an inquiry describing what we were running into. Kevin responded quickly and scheduled an appointment ASAP to come out and troubleshoot. Once he found the problem, he quoted me a very fair price. He completed the work, and the machines have been running perfectly ever since. I've since hired them to handle regular maintenance on all of my machines and card readers. They were efficient and super kind. Highly recommend!”

Frequently asked questions

Which coin mechanisms and card readers do you repair?

We work on Greenwald, ESD, Coin-O-Matic and other coin drops, coin slides and card readers used on commercial washers and dryers.

Why does the machine take coins but not start?

Usually the coin isn't being registered: a dirty or failed coin sensor, a loose connector, or a wiring fault between the drop and the machine control. Less often, the machine itself has a fault that only looks like a payment problem.

Can you change our vend prices?

Yes, on most equipment we can program prices and cycle settings at the reader or machine. Some networked systems handle pricing through the provider's own platform, and we'll tell you if that's the case.

How much does coin or card reader repair cost?

It depends on the hardware and what's failed. The $75 diagnostic is waived when you approve the repair, and you'll get a quote before any work starts.

How soon can you fix our readers?

Most visits are booked within 1–2 business days. You can call (702) 763-5110 or request service online.

Do payment repairs come with a warranty?

Yes. Repairs carry a 90-day warranty covering parts and labor.
