Common refrigerator problems we fix
Most fridge calls start with one of a handful of symptoms. Here is what usually sits behind each one in Las Vegas homes, from simple fixes to the bigger jobs.
Fridge not cooling, but the freezer is cold
This almost always points to airflow. A frosted-over evaporator coil, a failed defrost heater or sensor, or an evaporator fan that quit can all keep cold air from reaching the fresh-food side. Milk going warm while ice cream stays hard is the classic sign.
Neither section is cold
When both compartments warm up, we look at the condenser fan, dirty condenser coils, the start relay and the compressor itself. A click from the back every few minutes often means the compressor is trying to start and can't.
Water on the floor or under the crisper drawers
A clogged defrost drain is the usual cause. Meltwater backs up, freezes, then overflows inside the cabinet or onto the floor. A cracked water inlet valve or a loose supply line to the ice maker can leave a puddle too.
Frost and ice building up in the freezer
Heavy frost on the back panel or around the door opening usually means a defrost fault or a torn door gasket letting humid air in. Chipping it away only buys a few days; the cause has to be fixed.
Ice maker not making ice
We check the water inlet valve, the fill tube (which can freeze solid), the ice maker assembly and the filter. French-door models with ice makers in the door have their own trouble spots, including ice jams and frost in the ice compartment.
Squealing, grinding or buzzing
Squealing or grinding is usually a fan motor wearing out, either the evaporator fan inside or the condenser fan underneath. A steady buzz can be an ice maker calling for water that isn't arriving.
Freezer or wine cooler drifting warm
Standalone freezers and wine coolers fail in similar ways: thermostats, fans, door seals and control boards. Wine coolers are sensitive to small swings, so one that won't hold its setting is worth a look before a collection suffers.

What you can safely check before you call
- The temperature setting. Make sure the controls weren't bumped, and that the unit isn't in a showroom or vacation mode.
- The condenser coils. Unplug the refrigerator first, then vacuum the coils behind the bottom grille or across the back.
- The door seals. Close the door on a sheet of paper. If it slides out with no drag, that gasket may not be sealing.
- The air vents inside. Overpacked shelves can block the vents that carry cold air from the freezer to the fridge side.
- The water filter. An old or off-brand filter can slow the ice maker and dispenser to a trickle.
Don't chip at ice with a knife or screwdriver; one slip can puncture a refrigerant line. Skip the heat gun near plastic liners. If you need to pull the fridge out, unplug it and shut off the ice maker water supply first.
What happens on the visit
The technician starts by confirming the symptom, then tests the parts that could cause it: fans, defrost components, the start relay, the control board, and temperatures in each compartment. You get a plain explanation of what failed and a written quote before any work starts.
If you approve, we make the repair and run the refrigerator long enough to confirm it's cooling and cycling normally. If a part has to be ordered, we tell you the timeline before you approve, so you can plan around the wait. The $75 diagnostic fee is waived when you approve the repair.

Cost, the $75 diagnostic and our warranty
$75 Diagnostic — Waived With Repair. That covers the visit and the testing. Beyond that, the cost of a fridge repair comes down to three things: the part that failed, how hard it is to reach, and the model. A defrost sensor on a basic top-freezer is a very different job than a control board on a built-in column.
Sealed system work is where honesty matters most. If the compressor has failed or refrigerant is leaking from the tubing, the repair can cost a big share of a new refrigerator. On some units it's still worth doing, especially built-ins. On others it isn't, and we'll say so instead of selling you a repair that doesn't make sense.
Every repair comes with a 90-day warranty covering parts and labor. You get an itemized invoice by email and can pay it online by card.
Refrigerators, freezers and wine coolers we repair
We work on French-door, side-by-side, top-freezer, bottom-freezer and built-in refrigerators, plus upright and chest freezers, standalone ice makers and wine coolers. Brands we see often include Samsung, LG, GE and GE Profile, Whirlpool, Frigidaire, KitchenAid and Maytag, along with built-in lines like Sub-Zero, Thermador, Monogram, Liebherr and Viking.
Garage fridges, second freezers and rental units are all part of the job. Landlords and property managers can have us coordinate access with the tenant, and we send the quote to whoever approves the work.

Summer heat, garages and hard water
Summer is hard on refrigerators here. The condenser has to shed heat into the surrounding air, and when the kitchen is warm or the coils are coated in dust, the compressor runs longer and parts wear faster. A fridge that seemed fine in spring can start struggling by midsummer.
Garage fridges have it worst. Many household models aren't built for the heat a Las Vegas garage holds in July, and you may notice the fresh-food side warming while the compressor never seems to shut off. Clean coils and open space around the cabinet help. If it's still losing ground, we can tell you whether a part is failing or the unit is simply in the wrong spot.
Hard water plays a part too. Scale builds up in the water inlet valve and can slow or stop ice production, so we check the valve on most ice maker calls. We hear about it from homeowners across the valley, from Henderson to Summerlin.

Frequently asked questions
How much does refrigerator repair cost in Las Vegas?
The diagnostic is $75, and it's waived when you approve the repair. The rest depends on the part, how hard it is to reach and your model, and you get a quote before any work begins.
How soon can you come out?
Most visits are booked within 1–2 business days. Call or request a visit online and we'll find a time that works for you.
Do you repair Sub-Zero and other built-in refrigerators?
Yes. Along with Samsung, LG, GE, Whirlpool and other everyday brands, we work on built-in and column refrigerators from Sub-Zero, Thermador, Monogram, Liebherr and Viking.
Is my fridge worth repairing if the compressor failed?
Sometimes, but not always. Sealed system repairs are among the most expensive fridge jobs, so we'll compare the cost against the age and value of the unit and give you a straight answer, including when replacement makes more sense.
Can you fix my ice maker without replacing the whole fridge?
Usually, yes. Most ice maker problems come down to the water inlet valve, a frozen fill tube, a clogged filter or the ice maker assembly itself, and each of those can be replaced on its own.
What does your warranty cover?
Our repairs carry a 90-day warranty on both parts and labor. If the repair we performed fails in that window, call us and we'll come back to make it right.
What areas do you serve?
